Not Working One Day (2020)

Project made in collaboration with J.H., KOMA International Comics Festival, Prison in Cejl Bratislavská, Brno, Czechia

For my project in the festival, I hired a local person living in Brno (J.H.) to relax for an entire day. J.H. took the day off work to enjoy slowing down and forgetting about work and earning money. Afterwards, she told me the story of her recreation day, and I illustrated it. I used the drawings to create a performance lecture explaining the experience and reflecting on why relaxation and deep rest seem to be taboos within a hyper-capitalist, global society dedicated to production and exploitation.
